Interior finishing materials vs fire safety
In contrast to office or residential buildings, which are mainly used by regular users who spend 8-10 hours a day in the building and know its topography well, in a shopping mall, there might even be several thousand people who do not know the layout of rooms nor communication routes. Therefore, throughout the life cycle of a shopping mall, the main goal in terms of fire safety should be ensuring appropriate evacuation conditions for users. At the stage of design, there are numerous requirements resulting from regulations, including the regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure, Journal of Laws 2002 no.75 item 690 such as: fire resistance class of building elements, the length of escape routes or reaction-to-fire class of finishing elements which are defined as passive fire protection measures.
