Mera SPA Hotel, Sopot, Poland

The building combines merits of SPA with luxurious commercial functions. Apart from 150 hotel rooms and a SPA there are also restaurants located on two floors as well as an external and internal swimming pool. The building’s irregular horse-shoe shape with a rectangular layout opens toward the sea, the promenade and the quay. The object is harmoniously embedded into the surrounding landscape. The use of a vast range of natural materials and motives (rocks, water-pools) resembles the cosy buildings amongst the sea-coast dunes. The facade covered with naturally ageing wood and huge glass panels refers to Scandinavian modernism with its simplicity. The terrace, which includes a pool, is located on the roof in the central portion of the building.
